Inspiration

We guess everybody frequently changes their phone cases right? Not only does it provide protection for our cell phone from dust, water and heat, it also gives our phone an aesthetic appeal.

However, billion plastic phone cases are thrown away nowadays, floating in the ocean, damaging the lives of millions of marine species or seeping in the soil, causing detrimental effects to our health and the environment.

To reduce plastic pollution, our team proposed Elite cases - the biodegradable phone cases, which will be beneficial to people and save the environment.

What it does

While other eco-friendly phone cases are usually made from natural materials such as bamboo, cork, or harvested wood, ours is made from shrimp cell. It sustainability, flexibility and durable making it the ideal material for our product. Furthermore, customers can have beautifully design phone cases at an affordable price, as well as helping us to protect the environment.

How we built it

First, we read lots of news to choose the global environmental issue that we can solve. When we came up with the idea of making an Elite phone case to reduce plastic pollution, we decided how to make our products more unique than others. That is why we find a different material for our phone case, which is shrimp cells. We did lots of research on the applicability of shrimp cells and we are proud to present our idea to the Envirothon. Next, we wrote the research paper to provide the information of our product, our business strategy and vision. Then we made a pitch deck and recorded a presentation video for our product.

Challenges we ran into

Choosing a different material is a real challenge for us. We have to buy the shrimp, take out the shrimp cell, test it out to decide the perfect procedure for our product. We also have some troubles while writing the research paper since it is the first time we wrote it. However, we are so proud that everything comes as our expectation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of thinking about this idea and proud of our bravery to choose the material that no one used before.

What we learned

We learn how to write a thorough research paper to present our product. We also know our strengths and weaknesses while working as a team and know how to cooperate more effective next time.

What's next for Elite kidz

Initially, our team plans on operating our business in Vietnam. Later on when we have reached all the target audience, we will expand our market to other countries such as Thailand, South Korea and China
