Inspiration

Motherhood is a monumental period in the lives of over 50% of women. Most people have seen the daily challenges new mothers face in managing their own and their child's health. Postpartum depression, anxiety, and stress are prevalent in mothers, but often go untreated due to accessibility barriers to 24/7 trusted advice. Our team wanted to create a solution to improve the physical and mental well-being of mothers by focusing on their needs, improving their sense of community, and curating trusted advice.

What it does

Our project tracks mother and baby health in various categories, including diet, sleep, mental well-being, and baby development. Each user can log their data and receive personalized suggestions to monitor and improve trends in their behavior and their baby's development. Users can post comments to a forum about new developments or to seek advice from other users. This all-in-one project allows mothers to have a centralized hub of their information, as well as a community to build meaningful connections.

How we built it

We used VS code and cursor to build our environment. We integrated a Gemini API to generate response for our chatbot, personalized health advice, and personalized development advice.

Challenges we ran into

We had challenges integrating the API working and had to refine the prompt to give accurate and meaningful advice. We also spent a lot of time researching useful features, organizing wireframes, and planning out the database schema.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very happy with our UX design and our data displays. All of our main features are operating the way we wanted to, and are tailored to the user's needs.

What we learned

We have learned so much about mothers' struggles as well as curating a project to continually update to meet user needs. We learned that foundational planning is key to not running into as many errors down the road.

What's next for Elifante

We would like to fix the accuracy of certain features (especially involving the API). Many of the features, including the API, are basic and can be expanded.
