Inspiration
As a corporate consultant, I watched colleagues spend hours refining presentations but still miss key gaps in design or logic—gaps that undermined their message with clients and stakeholders. I wanted to create a tool that demystifies what makes a presentation effective, putting professional-grade feedback into every user’s hands, no formal training required.
What it does
Presentation Skills Coach analyzes presentation files to deliver a holistic score (0-100) across design, logic, content, and delivery. It highlights strengths/ flaws, generates slide-specific speaker notes, and compares performance against industry benchmarks—all to help professionals build more persuasive, polished presentations.
How we built it
We started with core UX design for intuitive file upload (drag-and-drop + file selector), then integrated AI/API tools for analysis logic. We built responsive UI components for the dashboard and report pages, and structured scoring logic to aggregate category-specific assessments into an overall score.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing depth of feedback with usability—avoiding information overload while ensuring suggestions were actionable. Also, optimizing the analysis flow to feel seamless (with progress animations) while maintaining accurate, context-rich insights for diverse presentation types.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a tool that speaks directly to busy professionals’ needs: concise, business-focused feedback that translates to immediate improvements. The responsive design (desktop + mobile) and benchmark comparison feature have resonated most with early users.
What we learned
We deepened our understanding of how AI can be tailored to niche business needs—especially in translating complex design/logic principles into plain-language feedback. We also learned the value of user-centric testing: early iterations had too much jargon, so we refined language to match how professionals actually talk about presentations.
What's next for this project
We plan to add integration with popular presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint), expand feedback to include audio delivery analysis (for recorded presentations), and build a library of industry-specific presentation templates aligned with benchmark standards. We’ll also add collaborative feedback features for team presentation reviews.
