Inspiration

We were inspired by the challenges people face in seeking internships—especially those who lack connections, time, and access to viable information. We wished to give people a resource that would make the process of seeking internships easier, faster, and tailored to a person's specific needs and goals.

What it does

Our application eases the process of securing an internship by giving users opportunities that best suit their goals and interests. The app has a simple interface, personalized recommendations for every user, and the option to learn more about a specific internship, all of which help users make professional choices based on informed decisions.

How we built it

What began as a discussion among five students quickly turned into a full-fledged project. Using the Glide App-Builder, we broke down the logic of the internship application process and decided on the factors of relevance in finding suitable opportunities. Having a sound foundation, we focused on making the GUI simple to use while incorporating additional features that enhanced the experience without complicating it.

Challenges we ran into

Working on this project in a group did not come without challenges. We had conflicting schedules, language barriers, and differences in working styles, which sometimes made coordination cumbersome. However, we surpassed these difficulties by breaking down problems into manageable steps, so that each hurdle was faced with a structured solution and team collaboration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are pleased with how we took a simple idea and turned it into a functional, user-friendly app. Beyond being a simple technological achievement, this project was a testament to our teamwork, perseverance, and vision. To be able to see our work materialize and know that it can help other individuals make sense of their career lives is reward enough in itself.

What we learned

This project was a teaching in the value of teamwork, adaptability, and customer input. We learned to manage technical problems, troubleshoot, and find a balance between aesthetics and functionality. Most importantly, we discovered that even a modest idea, if implemented well, could make a big difference.

What's next for Elevate

Elevate is growing to make internship possibilities more proximal, more diverse, and more comprehensive. We're dedicated to integrating accessibility capabilities like screen reader support and support for multiple languages and continuing to grow our database through AI-facilitated data gathering. As we reach new geographies and markets, we're doubling down on our mission—helping people elevate their careers, no matter where they are.
