Inspiration

As I was entering the building for the designathon, I realized the only way up was the elevator, which I usually actively avoid. Being forced to use it, I felt very uncomfortable. When I learned the prompt was about solving uncomfortable situations in the 'in-between,' I immediately thought of the elevator experience and wondered if other people shared those feelings.

What it does

It is a device installed inside elevators that gives users more control. It provides modern visual feedback for when the elevator is opening, when it’s going up, and, if approved by stakeholders, access to camera footage in close proximity to the elevator. Another core function is providing real time updates during emergency calls, such as confirming you’re connected to support, indicating whether it’s an audio call, and showing clear information about their estimated arrival.

How we built it

I built it in Figma. I used someone else’s style guide to speed up my process, and I also used Figma Make for rapid idea generation.

Challenges we ran into

My biggest challenge was gathering enough user data to shape the solution. On top of that, my first idea wasn’t working out, so I pivoted to this one which cost me a lot of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud that I managed to finish this solo.

What we learned

Be confident in your idea, otherwise you can waste a lot of time on one you don’t end up using.

What's next for Elevate

Keeping building my screens! I did not add everything I wanted so I would like to finish it.
