Inspiration
I stumbled upon this hackathon just a day before the submission deadline. Quitting wasn’t an option, so I challenged myself to build something meaningful within the short time. I’ve always been frustrated by how many talented builders are overlooked just because they don’t have a formal degree. I wanted to create something that could give those people a fair chance to prove themselves. That became the spark for Elevare.
What it does
Elevare is a competency proof platform powered by AI. Users create a profile with their projects and experiences, and Elevare generates a professional summary of their skills. It highlights validated abilities, flags unproven ones, and assigns a badge that represents their level of competency, such as “Self-Taught Pro” or “Equivalent to BSc.” The result is a public profile that employers can trust, giving self-taught developers a fair shot at opportunities.
How we built it
The project was built with Django for the backend and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend, using Supabase for PostgreSQL storage. Gemini API powered the AI analysis that generates skill reports and assigns competency badges. Finally, Azure handled the hosting and deployment. With just 12 hours to build and 2 hours to prepare the presentation, I focused on a lean MVP that still captured the essence of the idea.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was time. With only one day left before submissions closed, I had to simplify the original concept and focus on the most impactful features. Designing the AI analysis flow was tricky, especially balancing how much data it should consider within the short timeframe. I also had to make trade-offs — skipping certain advanced features like QR codes, complex education parsing, and social feeds to stay on track.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud that Elevare went from concept to working prototype in under 14 hours. The AI successfully generates a meaningful summary from projects and resumes, and the public profile with badges makes the idea real and practical. Most importantly, I’m proud that the project doesn’t just solve a technical problem but addresses a real challenge many people face.
What we learned
I learned that constraints can actually sharpen creativity. By focusing on what mattered most, I was able to turn a broad idea into something concrete and demo-ready. I also deepened my understanding of rapid prototyping with Django, database integration with Supabase, and AI workflow design with Gemini.
What's next for Elevare
The next step is to expand Elevare beyond the MVP. That means adding richer resume parsing, more sophisticated AI validation, and a way for employers to connect directly with candidates. I’d also like to introduce a social feed where users can share their work and grow their credibility over time. Ultimately, the vision is for Elevare to become the go-to platform where people are judged by their skills, not just their certificates.
