Inspiration
there are so many founders and builders nowadays that it feels like everyone is building something. BUT not everyone is actually thinking deeply about why they're building it!
we wanted to change that and make ideas more intentional and fun.
What it does
elenchus helps users stress-test their ideas by turning vague thoughts into structured questions, assumptions, and counterarguments so they can refine what they’re building before they waste time on it.
How we built it
we built it as a full-stack web app with a clean, simple structure:
frontend: a minimal, clean interface for submitting and viewing ideas backend: ai-powered logic that processes inputs and generates structured critique + feedback elevenlabs: used for voice features to make interactions feel more natural and interactive anam ai: used to help analyze ideas and produce deeper, structured responses instead of generic feedback
kept everything lightweight so the focus stays on idea quality, not UI noise...
Challenges we ran into
getting the AI to consistently give useful, non-generic feedback was tough at first; it kept being too vague or too nice, so we had to iterate a lot on prompts and structure.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
we’re proud that we actually got something working end-to-end that feels useful in real time, not just a concept or demo that falls apart under real input in < 90 minutes.
What we learned
we learned that good products are way more about framing and iteration than raw ideas, especially when working with ai systems.
What's next for Elenchus
next, we want to turn it into a real platform where users can track idea evolution over time and maybe even collaborate on refining ideas with others.
