Inspiration

Many times it is seen in our home country, India, that people consider voting days to be holidays, and don't cast their vote. We felt that this is quite a waste of the powers given to the people, as part of a democracy. Hence we decided to do something about this issue.

What it does

This program essentially is a command line tool which allows a user to add/delete/modify records in the Voter's List in a constituency, provides an anonymous gateway for voters to cast their votes securely, and displays the result in an ordered tabular manner. This program also calls a lottery winner in every 10 voters, during the voting procedure. The concept is to give a small gift to the lottery winner, so that more people turn up to cast their vote.

How I built it

This program was built using C++ 11, and runs on any operating system with required compilers installed.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

After a lot of deliberation and discussion with the designated authorities, the program was successfully used in the local municipality elections to administer the voting procedure. This also gave the local brands an opportunity to boost their sales by distributing discount coupons as the lottery prize.
