Introduction

The lack of a transparent and secure voting system within the university poses a significant challenge to the democratic process. To address this issue, we aim to build a state-of-the-art voting system called ElectifyU, which enables transparent and secure elections within the university.

Why the normal voting process is a concern?

University elections are often plagued by low voter turnout, which can lead to a lack of representation for certain groups of students and distrust of the formed government. The traditional paper ballot system is not very secure. There is a risk of voter fraud, such as ballot forgery or vote buying. The traditional paper ballot system is not very efficient. It can take a long time to count the votes, and there is a risk of errors.

We propose the development of a modern and innovative blockchain-based e-voting system called ElectifyU, designed specifically for transparent and secure university elections. Leveraging the power of blockchain technology, ElectifyU aims to revolutionize the voting experience by ensuring student voter anonymity, preventing fraud, and enabling immutable and transparent election results.

Our Objective:

  1. Enhance Transparency: Implement a system that provides full transparency in the election process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the results.
  2. Ensure Security: Create a secure platform that guarantees the confidentiality and privacy of voters while preventing tampering or manipulation of votes.
  3. Improve Accessibility: Develop an intuitive and user-friendly online platform, enabling all eligible voters, including remote students, to participate conveniently.
  4. Enhance Efficiency: Streamline the voting process, eliminating physical queues and reducing time-consuming manual vote counting, with instant and accurate results.

Previously, the university relied on traditional paper ballots, which lacked accountability, transparency, and were prone to tampering. Voting booths scattered across campus resulted in long queues, discouraging participation and limiting the representation of the entire community. Moreover, the physical nature of the voting process hindered remote student involvement.

We believe that the blockchain voting system is a viable solution to the problems of low voter turnout, lack of transparency, and security in university elections. The system will be transparent, secure, and accessible to all students. We are confident that the blockchain voting system will be a valuable tool for the student government at VIT Bhopal.

The problems we have tried to solve and advantages:
