Inspiration
We were messing with LED's and wanted to make a game out of them. We thought of the tic-tac-toe game and figured it would be a good build to finish within 36 hours.
What it does
We are using Arduino programming and circuitry to create a game of tic-tac-toe. Buzzers play unique tunes depends on which player wins, and the LCD display the players' turns and which player won.
How we built it
We used an Arduino Mega, breadboards, push buttons, RGB LEDs, an LCD, and some buzzers.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges along the way, like getting accurate output when it came to the buttons and LED's.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We had never used Arduino before, so learning it from scratch and building it was definitely a good learning experience. Every time we managed to build the game, we decided to add more features, which gave us the opportunity to mess around with our project and make it more detailed with each step.
What we learned
We learned a lot of new concepts about hardware hacking and circuits like pull-up and pull-down voltages, using different data types for programming, overflows, etc.
What's next for elecTIC-TAC-TOE
If there were more time, we would love to work on expanding our project even more, like making scoreboards from seven-segment LEDs, programming new games with LED panels, building a mobile app to act as controllers for the games, etc.
