Inspiration
The inspiration for ElderCareConnect came from a personal and deeply felt challenge: watching my family struggle to manage my grandmother's care. Our communication was a confusing mix of text messages, phone calls, and paper notes. Her doctors only saw a small snapshot of her health during appointments, missing the crucial day-to-day data. I realized the problem wasn't a lack of love or effort, but a lack of a central, connecting tool. I was inspired to build a digital bridge to unite the three pillars of care—the patient, the family, and the doctor—to replace stress with clarity.
What it does
ElderCareConnect is a high-fidelity prototype of an all-in-one health monitoring platform. It demonstrates a complete, dual-sided user experience: For Patients & Caregivers: It provides a simple, accessible interface to log daily vitals (BP, Blood Sugar), manage a list of medications, upload and view medical reports, and connect with others for support in a community forum. For Doctors: It offers a secure, professional portal to view a roster of their patients. Upon selecting a patient, a doctor can access a detailed dashboard with their vitals history, review uploaded reports.
How we built it
We used Bolt.new to build the application from scratch by only using prompts to guide the app.
- UI/UX Design: We meticulously designed an accessible and intuitive interface, focusing on large fonts, high-contrast colors, and simple navigation suitable for an elderly audience.
- Front-End Development: Bolt.new did it on its own.
- Mock Data Implementation: To bring the app to life, we populated it with realistic mock data. This allows users to click through every feature and experience the complete user journey for both Patients and Doctors as if it were a fully functional, live application.
Challenges we ran into
Our primary challenge was we ran out of credits. This forced us to make the critical decision to pivot from a live product to a high-fidelity prototype rather than deliver an incomplete or buggy experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are incredibly proud of successfully pivoting our strategy without sacrificing the project's vision. Instead of getting stuck, we created a polished and convincing prototype that effectively communicates the app's value. We are also proud of the thoughtful and accessible user interface. The positive feedback on the final design confirms we created an experience that is both functional and genuinely easy to use. Building a complete, clickable user journey for two distinct roles (Patient and Doctor) using only front-end tools is an accomplishment we see as a major success.
What we learned
The most important lesson was that adaptability is a developer's greatest asset. Recognizing a roadblock and finding a new path forward is more valuable than rigidly sticking to a plan that isn't working.
What's next for ElderCareConnect
The prototype has laid the perfect groundwork for the future. Our next steps are:
1.Full-Stack Development with No-Code: We will leverage the power of Bolt.new to build out the secure backend, database, and API needed to make the app fully functional. The final application will be hosted on Netlify to ensure reliable and scalable performance.
2.Formal User Validation: Conduct formal user testing sessions with elderly individuals and healthcare professionals to gather detailed feedback and refine the UI/UX before full-scale development.
3.Feature Prioritization: Based on user feedback, we will prioritize advanced features for our V1 launch, such as push notification reminders for medications and appointments, and potential telehealth integrations.
