Inspiration

Many elderly individuals or those in need of care often seek caretakers who not only provide support but also share similar interests, values, or personalities — creating a more meaningful and comfortable companionship. To address this need, we developed an intuitive caretaker-matching application that helps users find compatible caregivers based on shared hobbies, communication preferences, and availability. Understanding that many older adults may not be comfortable with traditional tech interfaces, we also integrated voice input functionality, making it easier for less tech-savvy users to engage with the platform naturally and effortlessly.

What it does

Our application helps elderly individuals find caretakers who are not only reliable but also compatible in terms of personality, interests, and communication style. By leveraging multiple intelligent agents, the system ensures meaningful matches that go beyond just availability. Whether the user is looking for a companion to chat with or someone who shares their hobbies, our platform intelligently connects them with the right caretaker. Voice input functionality makes the process accessible to seniors who may be less familiar with modern technology.

How we built it

We used Fetch.ai to create and deploy autonomous agents capable of handling user profile matching and coordination. For conversational flow and emotional understanding, we integrated Claude to drive natural, empathetic dialogue. To ensure the system is accessible for elderly users, we implemented Vapi for real-time voice input and interaction, allowing users to speak naturally rather than navigate a complex UI. I our Vapi setup, we again used Claude Sonnet 4 as our primary model. These tools were combined into a streamlined frontend experience using modern web technologies.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating multiple AI agents while maintaining a seamless frontend experience proved to be a significant challenge. Ensuring that voice input worked reliably across different devices and environments required extensive testing. Additionally, making the interface simple enough for seniors while still supporting complex agent workflows took thoughtful UI/UX design. Debugging voice-based inputs and syncing them with real-time backend decisions also presented technical hurdles.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re especially proud of how accessible the final experience is. Our integration of Vapi’s voice input has transformed what is typically a multi-step, text-heavy signup process into a natural, spoken conversation. This makes it much easier for seniors and those unfamiliar with digital devices to create a profile and find the right caretaker — boosting usability and inclusivity.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned how to: • Create and deploy intelligent agents using Fetch.ai for real-time matchmaking • Design conversational logic using Claude to guide natural and kind interactions • Integrate Vapi’s voice assistant SDK to capture and handle spoken input effectively We also gained valuable experience in building applications that prioritize accessibility, empathy, and user trust, especially for vulnerable populations like the elderly.

What's next for Care

As we look toward the future, one of our most meaningful goals is to introduce a Memory Recording feature. This would allow elderly users to record their life stories, personal experiences, and cherished memories in their own voice — creating a digital legacy that their loved ones can revisit for years to come. Whether it’s recounting childhood moments, sharing words of wisdom, or simply expressing love and gratitude, this feature will help preserve their voices and stories even after they’re no longer with us. It’s a way to honor their lives and strengthen intergenerational connection through the power of storytelling and technology.
