🌟 Inspiration As passionate fans of Elden Ring, we wanted to create a game that puts players' map knowledge to the test. Inspired by the classic GeoGuessr, we envisioned a challenge where players identify various in-game locations and place their guesses on an interactive map.
Our goal was to master our user interface (UI/UX) skills and really make the design look visually amazing!
🔧 How We Built It -Frontend: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript -Game Logic & Map Handling: Leaflet.js -Backend Data Storage: CSV file for location data -Image Hosting: Google Drive 💡 What We Learned -How to implement custom maps in Leaflet.js -Handling Google Drive images dynamically -Creating an interactive UI with draggable markers -Managing game state and scoring logic -Debugging asynchronous data fetching issues 🚧 Challenges We Faced -Ensuring Google Drive image links worked correctly -Mapping game coordinates accurately to the in-game map -Fine-tuning scoring mechanics for a fair challenge -Handling mobile compatibility and UI responsiveness 🎮 What's Next? -Adding a leaderboard for high scores -Implementing different game modes (e.g., timed, ranked) -Expanding the location database for more variety -Enhancing animations and UI effects for better immersion Elden Ring GeoGuessr is a game made by fans, for fans.
