Inspiration

The BeautyVoice project was inspired by the personal experiences of me.

I am disabled. I cannot speak, only listen. So in the past, because of this, I felt very inferior.

However, since the emergence of AI technology, my life has undergone tremendous changes. For example, I can input text and have AI help me produce sound so I can make this video. Without AI's help, I wouldn't be able to independently produce this video.

So I started thinking, can AI help people with disabilities like me to enable more people to enjoy the same communication and lifestyle as normal people, thus becoming more independent, more dignified, and saying goodbye to inferiority?

I have some experience with AI. so I am thinking about whether the latest AI technology, such as ChatGPT, can be used to help people with disabilities.

What it does

BeautyVoice is an AI-powered app that makes the beauty industry more accessible for people with disabilities, particularly those who are visually impaired.

The app uses Azure Cognitive Services to capture the user's voice and ChatGPT to provide beauty-related information and advice in response.

Unlike other traditional apps, BeautyVoice is designed specifically for visually impaired people, so it minimizes operation steps as much as possible, such as informing the blind person when the app is launched and waiting for their voice without any additional operations like clicking a button, which is very direct and simple.

BeautyVoice is specifically designed for people with visual impairments, so it only has sound and no UI.

How we built it

The BeautyVoice app was built using Azure Cognitive Services and ChatGPT. The team used the Azure Speech-to-Text API to capture the user's voice, and then processed it using ChatGPT to provide relevant beauty-related information. The team also designed a user-friendly interface that is accessible to people with disabilities.

Challenges I ran into

I have no Android and Mobile phone development experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of the fact that I was able to create an app that helps people with disabilities to access the beauty industry. I am also proud of having Android and Mobile phone development experience now.

What I learned

Android and Mobile phone development experience.

What's next for BeautyVoice

I plan to continue developing the app and adding new features.
