Inspiration

We tried creating an agent manually, configuring indices, figuring out tools to use. Although the current process is simple for technical folks, we wanted to democratize the Elastic Agent builder for non-technical like product/business people as well. So we thought of building Elastic Agent Foundry to automate the technicalities of building an agent in the background . Anyone with data can now use Elastic Agent Foundry to build an AI agent within 60 seconds

What it does

Elastic Agent Foundry turns structured data into a working AI agent in under 60 seconds. Upload a dataset. Choose a pre-defined production gradetemplate for Finance, Healthcare and General Automatically generate ES|QL-powered skills and tools Deploy a working agent backed directly by Elasticsearch. It auto-handles ingest, schema detection, semantic mappings, query generation, and tool wiring — so users don’t write complex ES|QL or orchestration logic manually.

How we built it

We leveraged Kiro and spent significant time on requirements and design to make the process streamlined for users . Played around with Elastic APIs a lot .

Challenges we ran into

We wanted to make sure our agents were usable immediately . So we wanted to design it for anyone with data and get rid of all technical complexity. So Designing workflow to make it smooth for anyone required brainstorming iterations on design. There were lot of iterations in getting it right in terms of data processing and getting agent configuration right. Also spent time exploring how best to define templates which someone can readily use from finance and healthcare.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

From idea to execution, i am proud of what we have built. There were several iterations of brainstorming, debugging , designing but the end result is pretty good in my opinion. Of course, i am a little biased for my project :)

What we learned

I like what Elastic team has built with their agent builder and strong set of APIs to support it. I believe there is a lot of potential use cases where Elastic Agent builder can be powerful tool for all industries

What's next for Elastic Agent Foundry

I believe we should enhance it to make it production grade and maybe roll it out specific to use cases for each industry tied to strong elastic infrastructure
