[Eight] SG DO WHAT?

Inspiration

We realised that Singapore’s weather can get rather unpredictable, which means that plans may unexpectedly get ruined and cancelled due to the bad weather. We want to ensure that tourists can still have fun in Singapore despite the weather by recommending uncommon tourist sites for them to visit.

What it does

Our website offers a wide range of activities for tourists to partake in Singapore regardless of the weather. In the event of bad weather, tourists can view indoor places that will allow them to seek shelter while exploring Singapore.

How we built it

The project was done using Vue JS, with the help of firebase as a database for all the activities and places.

Challenges we ran into

One of the greatest challenges that our team faced was the time limit. All of us are currently doing a full-time internship and we are unable to devote much time working on the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to achieve the functionalities that we have planned to do, and managed to come up with a proper website that addresses the problem statement.

What we learned

We learnt that by putting our skills into use, we are able to benefit the community around us. We also learnt that nothing is impossible as long as we work together and believe that we can make it work.

What's next for [Eight] SG Do What?

Beyond just adding more activities and places into our database, we aim to have user accounts on the website. These users will be able to contribute to the website by sharing new places they have discovered, providing reviews for the places listed there and to even chat with other users to share their Singapore experience to one another.
