Inspiration
EH-LoGs was inspired by the logistics challenges SMEs in the Fast Moving Perishable goods industry face in Sub-Saharan Africa. The process they currently use to order and procure services is manual and SMEs take prolonged time off their business securing stock.
On average it takes an SME 8 to 10hrs per day (most of them leaving home at 4:00am) between the time they arrive at the a supplier to the time they have to return and service their businesses.
They have no visibility to the available stock from the supplier, and if they eventually confirm stock availability, they have no guarantees of securing the required stock to keep their businesses functional.
Supplier do not have a way of communicating their stock availability to SMEs which leads to conflict, especially in cases where SMEs do not receive their desired stock.
What it does
Eh_LoGs is a logistics service that connects suppliers to their customers in real time, giving an open platform to suppliers to provide information on the available stock and also process orders online. Processed orders are ran through the EH-LoGs algorithm to predict and automate the following items
- Automate invoicing
- Automate supplier stock replenishment
- Predict driver arrival time for pick up
- Automate the authentication process for driver stock collection
- Integrate to physical security system
How we built it
We created a database that contains all the supplier product codes and quantities. The database API connected to an automation and prediction script that learns user buying trends, user profiles and keep track of the supplier database. The EH-LoG platform provides simplified automated logistics service that brings efficiency, cost savings and new markets to suppliers and their customers.
The Automation Anywhere is used to automate and pass information regarding stock availability, orders and send notification to the supplier to replenish stock based on Realtime analytics.
EH -LoGs technology is underpinned by an API first approach as the services interfaces multiple systems.
Challenges we ran into
We experienced issues of hosting the service and deciding which is the cost effective way of taking the service to market. Learning the Automation Anywhere platform was a challenge and also deciding on the tools to use as this was our first project
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to get the BOT work, the API setup and documentation. We are proud to have worked long hours to get our MVP out for feedback.
What we learned
We learnt how to use the BOT and to integrate different systems. We also learnt some AI and ML techniques that we will be applying in the next release. We were able to learn how to use Azure devOps where we deployed our first MVP
What's next for EH-LOGs
Work will continue on the EH-LoGs platform. Next steps will be to build the APP and get 10 test customers. Next release will include recommendations to both the supplier and the customer, online and USSD ordering and an end to send sales module
