The topic of our solution that addresses the challenge of working from home is enhancing productivity. The main inspiration behind this idea is the productivity website Pomofocus.com. Whilst we have found this app to be highly effective, we believed that users could be more motivated to complete their tasks by rewarding the user through a simple gamification process. Our project allows users to add tasks to a checklist, in a unique and fun way. Users will be aiming to finish their task within a number of 25 minute blocks, with a minimum of one block as the default. After n blocks, the timer allows the user to take a short break of n minutes. After n blocks, the user can take a long break for n minutes. This is a proven productivity strategy called the Pomodoro technique. Should a task take longer than set number of blocks, the user can add more. The egg will crack open when five tasks are completed; adding that egg to their personal coll-Egg-tion of completed eggs. An issue we faced was that the timer did not go down for the full 25-minute duration when the “start” button was initiated. Our team is most proud of the Coll-Egg-tion basket, which we believe will be a highly effective means to motivate users to complete their set tasks, and in turn, boost productivity.
