About Egg Friend™ Shrine

Egg Friend™ Shrine is not a game — it's a one-chance ritual relic.

We wanted to build something more than an app: a soft folklore loop you can fail. One daily submission keeps your shrine alive. Miss a day, and it silences forever. No resets. No mercy.
We designed it to feel like discovering a relic in an old ruin — something bigger than you, demanding quiet devotion.

What inspired us

We love folklore, ambient rituals, and mythic digital spaces that refuse to be “gamified.”
Egg Friend™ Shrine draws from ancient superstition, Dark Souls lore, and our love for tamagotchis that quietly teach you loss.
We also wanted it to be accessible to everyone — no signups, no ads, no coins. Just a loop you choose to keep alive.

How we built it

  • Framework: Built entirely with Bolt.new, no backend — the shrine lives in local storage.
  • Hosting: Deployed on Netlify.
  • Design: Pixel ruin art & engraved Latin slab for atmosphere.
  • Features: Permanent death lock, daily ritual submission, multi-platform sharing, full keyboard & screen reader support.
  • Video: Mythic trailer style — short, quiet, ritualistic.

What we learned

  • How to build an irreversible loop in pure frontend with Bolt.
  • How to wrap harsh folklore in soft, accessible design.
  • How to craft an experience that balances mystery with usability.
  • How to make an entire ritual relic that weighs only kilobytes.

Challenges

  • Designing true “permanent death” with no backend.
  • Balancing minimal code with full accessibility.
  • Keeping the ritual tone intact while proving it works for judges.
  • Making a video that explains just enough but keeps the myth alive.

The core truth

Devotion demands perfection. And failure is forever.
Egg Friend™ Shrine is our gift — a relic for anyone who needs a little daily humility.
