Inspiration

After getting repeatedly crushed in Game Pigeon Word Bites by our merciless friends, we swore vengeance! Okay, maybe not vengeance... but we figured there had to be a way to level the playing field. We craved the sweet taste of victory and wouldn't rest until we had a taste!

What it does

Our mighty hackathon creation is the T-Rex of the hackerworld! It takes a live image of your phone's Word Bites game and unleashes the fury of computer vision and word-finding algorithms. In a flash, it calculates all the possible word solutions, arming you with the ultimate weapon. Victory.

How we built it

Image Capture: We wrestled with screen capture techniques to snatch that live Game Pigeon image. Optical Character Recognition (OCR): We taught our program to 'read' the game board, deciphering those jumbled letters through testing multiple models. Word-Finding Algorithm: We built a powerful word-finding algorithm that searches through massive dictionaries rapidly to output possible words. User Interface (UI): We integrated a live video screen capture into our website and designed a simplistic interaction for the user.

Challenges we ran into

OCR Mayhem: Cleanly deciphering those scrambled letters was a nightmare...especially after 20+ hours of coding. Speed Demon: Optimizing the word-finding algorithm for real-time gameplay made our brains hurt.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built it! A working program emerged from the caffeine-fueled chaos, and that feels miraculous. OCR and Algorithm Breakthrough: Getting the computer to accurately read that game board and return valid words was a major win. Game Pigeon Domination: The look on our friends' faces when we start crushing them will be priceless.

What we learned

Algorithms are no joke. Image processing is harder than it looks. :) Sometimes, the best projects are born from a desire to beat your friends at silly games.

What's next for

Smoother UI: We might make it look less like a 1990s website. World Domination: Okay, maybe just Game Pigeon Word Bites domination. Open Source: Sharing our monstrous creation with fellow Word Bites victims.
