Inspiration
As Gen-Z university students, we waste more time doom-scrolling than we would like to admit. We wanted to fix that.
What it does
The app creates a login page for every user to make an account for themselves. By creating an account the app leads them to different self improvement 'hacks' like reading content from gemini api, playing games that help in productivity, etc.
The idea of our app is to family the goals of our users to turn a negative influence which is gaming to a positive influence where they get addicted to bettering themselves.
How we built it
We built the product using these technologies Kotlin, Java, Jscript, Gemini API and SQL.
The way we built it is by creating a main login page for any user. The login page leads them onwards to main homepage containing reading extracts based on their search. They can swip right to their avatar stats page where they can set their avatar pfp and see their attribute scores. The third page contains games like tic tac toe, etc.
Challenges we ran into
We learnt kotlin pretty much from scratch. In a way it was a challenge in itself however, the first challenge we had was figuring how to make the navigation bar with the kotlin. Secondly, we had troubles with setting up our sql server. Third was setting up our image picking system. Lastly, we had troubles with setting up our tic tac toe game.
Regardless of our challenge we had to introspect each challenge and find ways to solve each of the challenges every time. From learning kotlin, using ai to solve errors, inspecting whether the dependencies and the implementations of the build gradle files were proper we had to use several approaches to solve our issues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of steep learning curve of our app development. Every though we are begginers in kotlin, java, etc, all of us picked up the technologies very quickly. Hence, we are proud to say we learned these technologies and made a project during the weekendππ π
What we learned
We learned a lot on app development, sever connection and network between devices. We learned a lot about how to make an app actually provide value to customers instead of it having no incentive to being used.
What's next for EduVenture
The next version of our app would be very different. More games, more self improvement features like reels about motivation. The next version would also be uploaded in app store/ an ios version would be published.
