Inspiration
In Kenya, many schools struggle with poor communication between teachers, parents, and administrators. This gap often affects students’ academic growth and accountability. We were inspired to bridge this gap using technology, making education more transparent, connected, and efficient.
What it does Edutrack is a digital platform that connects teachers, parents, and administrators in one space. It allows: -Teachers to track and update their performance and reports -Parents to monitor their child’s progress -Administrators to send messages, warnings, and performance alerts The platform promotes collaboration and improves the overall quality of education in Kenya.
How we built it We began by mapping out all the manual processes currently used in schools, such as physical attendance sheets, report cards, and manual communication channels. We then digitized these processes using a React frontend, a mock JSON database, and intuitive dashboards for teachers, parents, and administrators.
Challenges we ran into -Finding APIs that provide a comprehensive list of schools in Kenya -Obtaining the TSC numbers of every teacher to enable login and verification -Designing an interface that is both intuitive for all user types and flexible enough to handle varying school structures
Accomplishments that we're proud of -Successfully generating QR codes for real-time sign-in, reducing manual attendance tracking -Creating a functional prototype that connects all three key stakeholders in education -Designing a user-friendly dashboard that can be extended to other school management functions
What's next for Edutrack -Collaborating with larger government facilities, such as Agriculture and Finance, to digitize workforce tracking -Providing administrators with an easier, centralized way to manage staff and teachers -Expanding features to include analytics, gamified teacher performance, and enhanced parent engagement
