Inspiration
What inspired us to created Edutory was that with everything being remote, you constantly have to switch between websites and apps. For example, for connecting with alumni, you have to search through LinkedIn, for contacting your classmates, you have to find their email address or get ahold of them during class on Zoom, or sometimes, you have to send multiple emails to a professor before getting a reply. Oh, and when looking for professor ratings, there is no way to ensure integrity as anyone can write reviews. Edutory combines all of these aspects and makes it so you only need one website rather than ten different websites as well as ensuring integrity of reviews.
How we built it
We built the website using Canva. We were going to use HTML/CSS and JavaScript but due to time constraints, we ended up using Canva.
Challenges we ran into
When we were coding our project, we ran into the issue of connecting Firebase and our website so it would store the user's profile information. Due to this issue, we had to use Canva at the last minute.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to create a mockup of a website within a day! Also, learning about UI/UX design! :D
What we learned
We learned about UI/UX design and how important it is to create a user-friendly website.
What's next for Edutory
If we had the time, we would definitely code out all of our pages rather than using Canva and have it so that the user’s profile is saved in our database so that they can easily log back in. Also, we would love to create another section where the user can search for classes offered at their university and read a description about these classes since universities don’t offer a way to read about a class beforehand. Also, we would definitely create the different homepages based on who’s logged in and finally, we would also add a verification system that would allow us to verify if you’re a student or a professor when signing up to keep the integrity of the reviews.
