Inspiration
As someone who transitioned into tech, I found learning new concepts overwhelming due to the endless resources online. I wanted to create a structured, one-stop solution that comprehensively breaks down topics. That's why I built Edussistant - to guide users through any subject with a clear learning path.
What it does
Initially, there is a customized syllabus to systematically guide people through lessons. Each concept is explained simply yet thoroughly in each lesson. Then, to cement the learning, we provide questions and answers to practice spaced repetition on a flashcard app. Finally, there are homework activities like videos/articles/hands-on projects to reinforce understanding. In the end, when ready we provide a quiz to test your new knowledge. The whole process ensures long-term retention and mastery.
How I built it
I started by creating prompts to generate the best syllabus, then manually added interactive widgets for the lessons, flashcards, homework and a quiz. Refining the workflow helped me improve the learning experience lesson by lesson.
Challenges I ran into
In the early stages, it was tricky to automatically take the input from each lesson and reference it in the flashcards and homework widgets. I had to manually reference each lesson in each widget. Also, I wasn't able to develop homework suggestions that would direct to a specific web page, only some high-level homework.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud we can now comprehensively break down topics in a structured, engaging format. Users have the complete learning package in one place to efficiently gain expertise.
What I learned
I realized that even though so many online resources can overwhelm us, all the knowledge is out there - we just need helpful guides to structure information in a way our brains can easily absorb. My goal with Edussistant is to be that organized educational assistant who takes the complexity out of learning! I'm always reflecting on how to perfect further Edussistant's methods based on student experiences. The goal is all about growth!
What's next for Edussistant
Moving forward, I would like to implement flashcards directly inside Edussistant for easier access. A better UI with a visible syllabus, lesson progress tracking, and note-taking will improve the experience too.
