Inspiration
Managing a college involves multiple departments, students, faculty members, and administrators. Academic information is often scattered across different systems, making coordination and tracking difficult. We were inspired to build EduSphere, a unified platform that brings essential campus activities into one place.
What it does
EduSphere is a smart campus management platform with dedicated portals for Students, Faculty, HODs, Admin, and Management. It is designed to streamline course management, attendance, assignments, assessments, notifications, library services, placements, and academic analytics. Role-based access ensures that users can access the features and information relevant to their responsibilities.
How we built it
We built the frontend using React, Vite, and Tailwind CSS, with Node.js, Express, and TypeScript powering the backend services. MongoDB Atlas provides data persistence, while RabbitMQ supports inter-service messaging. We also incorporated Docker, Kubernetes, Nginx, and Prometheus into the architecture to support containerization, routing, deployment, and monitoring.
What we learned
Developing EduSphere helped us understand microservices architecture, role-based access control, database relationships, API integration, and distributed application design. We also learned the importance of designing clear workflows for different user roles.
Challenges we faced
One of our biggest challenges was coordinating multiple services while maintaining consistent data, secure permissions, and reliable API communication. Designing workflows for different departments and user roles also required careful planning. We are continuing to improve integration, data persistence, and end-to-end functionality.
