Inspiration
Many secondary school students struggle with studying because learning materials are not well organized and guidance is limited outside the classroom. Students often feel confused about which textbooks to read, which topics to focus on, and how to test themselves after studying. Seeing these challenges among students inspired us to create a simple digital solution that helps students learn independently and more effectively.
What it does
EduSmart is an education-based web platform designed for secondary school students. It allows students to select their class, subject, and topic, then recommends relevant textbooks and learning resources. The platform also provides practice quizzes based on what the student has studied, helping them test their understanding. EduSmart organizes learning materials in one place, making studying easier, smarter, and more personalized.
How we built it
We built EduSmart as a web application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The platform includes multiple pages such as a home page, session planner, digital library, quiz section, and an about page. The library uses a card-based design to display textbooks clearly, while simple logic is used to simulate AI-powered recommendations and quizzes. The project was designed to work offline and be easy to expand in the future.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was organizing learning materials for many classes and subjects in a way that is simple for students to use. Another challenge was creating smart recommendations and quizzes without using complex AI. We solved this by carefully structuring the data and using simple logic to simulate intelligent features, making the system easy to understand, effective, and suitable for students.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that EduSmart provides a complete learning flow — from selecting a topic, to accessing the right textbooks, and practicing with quizzes. We successfully created a clean, responsive interface that works on different devices. We are also proud that the project addresses a real problem faced by secondary school students and can be used even without internet access.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned how to plan and structure a real-world educational solution. We improved our skills in web development, user interface design, and problem-solving. We also learned the importance of designing technology around the actual needs of users, especially students.
