Inspiration
In many schools and colleges, study materials are shared through WhatsApp groups, emails, or random cloud links. This often leads to lost files, poor organization, and limited interaction with learning content. We wanted a single, secure, and intelligent platform built specifically for education—this inspired EduShare.
What it does
EduShare is a smart, AI-powered educational file sharing platform. Teachers securely upload study materials, while students access them through a clean, role-based dashboard. Students have view-only access, ensuring content integrity.
EduShare’s AI chatbot understands teachers’ uploaded PDFs and provides context-aware answers, audio explanations, and downloadable PDF notes—transforming static files into an interactive learning experience.
How we built it
EduShare was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend, with Core PHP and MySQL powering the backend. We integrated Google’s Gemini API for AI capabilities and used Smalot PDF Parser to extract content from uploaded PDFs. The system runs on a structured local server filesystem with secure role-based access.
Challenges we ran into
Key challenges included implementing strict role-based permissions, accurately extracting PDF content for AI processing, integrating audio and PDF export features, and managing secure file storage efficiently.
What we learned
We gained hands-on experience with AI integration, backend security, PDF processing, role-based system design, and building scalable educational tools with real-world impact.
What’s next for EduShare
Future plans include RAG-based AI for deeper PDF understanding, teacher analytics, real-time collaboration, mobile apps, and enhanced security features like CAPTCHA.
