EduSenegal ID: Bridging Education and Opportunity

Inspiration

In Senegal, many students face a harsh reality: even after completing their education, they struggle to find meaningful employment. The lack of a centralized system to showcase their academic achievements, skills, and experiences often leaves them invisible to the "monde du travail" (workforce). This inspired us to create EduSenegal ID, a digital identity platform that connects students, schools, and employers to bridge the gap between education and employment. Our goal is to ensure that every student’s potential is recognized and valued.

What it does

EduSenegal ID is a digital identity platform designed to:

• Centralize Academic Records: Schools input students' academic data (e.g., bulletins de notes, diplomas) throughout their academic journey.
• Empower Students: Students can add their skills, certifications, and work experiences to their profiles.
• Facilitate Employability: The platform connects students with job opportunities, allowing them to apply directly when opportunities arise.
• Streamline Hiring: Employers can access verified academic and professional records, making the hiring process more efficient and transparent.

How we plan to build it

1. Research: Understand the needs of students, schools, and employers in Senegal.
2. Design: Create a user-friendly platform with separate interfaces for schools, students, and employers.
3. Development:
   • School Portal: For schools to input academic records (e.g., bulletins de notes, diplomas).
   • Student Profile: For students to add skills, certifications, and work experiences.
   • Employer Dashboard: For employers to post opportunities and access verified student profiles.
4. Pilot Program: Launch a pilot in select schools to test the platform and gather feedback.

Challenges we anticipate

• Data Privacy: Ensuring compliance with Senegal’s data protection laws and securing sensitive information.
• Adoption: Encouraging schools, students, and employers to embrace the platform.
• Digital Divide: Addressing limited internet access and smartphone penetration in rural areas.
