Inspiration

Working with the Wix Data API and Velo API on the Wix platform has been a truly enjoyable experience. I've always been passionate about education, and being able to leverage these technologies to create education-based products has been both fulfilling and meaningful to me.

What I appreciate most about working with the Wix Data API is how easy it is to create data-driven applications. With the ability to store, retrieve, and manipulate data directly within the platform, I had complete control over how I wanted to structure and manage my data. Plus, the Velo API made it possible to create dynamic, interactive user experiences that engage and educate my users.

I felt both enjoyment and a sense of obligation to create educational products because I believe in the power of education to transform lives. I feel that by leveraging my skills and expertise to create meaningful products, I am making a positive difference in the world. Edusecure is a SaaS-based student information management system designed to capture and manage student data securely and protect it from theft and misuse. How we built it

I am excited to present EduSecure, a JavaScript Wix API application that I have just built. With the Wix Data API and Collections for Students, Courses, Instructors, and Organizations, I have been able to create basic CRUD functionality that makes it easy to manage and manipulate student data.

In the current version of EduSecure, I have focused on demonstrating the CRUD functionality of the Students Collection. This allows educational institutions to keep track of student progress and academic success in a secure and encrypted environment. With the power of the Wix Data API, I have been able to create an application that is both powerful and easy to use.

As I continue to develop EduSecure, I plan to expand the functionality to include the other collections I have created. This will enable educational institutions to manage all aspects of their student data in a single location, using a platform that is both secure and flexible.

Challenges we ran into

As I was developing EduSecure using the Wix Data API, I encountered some issues with the Wix-MembersArea extension. Specifically, I was unable to log in or register using the extension, which was causing some frustration and delays in the development process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am incredibly proud of the work that I have done to create a fully-functional API for EduSecure. Despite encountering some challenges along the way, including issues related to permissions and authentication, I persisted and found ways to create a seamless and secure experience for users.

Using the Wix Data API, I was able to create a robust back-end system that allows educational institutions to manage and manipulate student data with ease. I focused on creating an interface that was both user-friendly and secure, using authentication tools to ensure that only authorized users could access and modify sensitive data.

What we learned

Building EduSecure has been an enriching experience for me in many ways. One of the most significant things I have learned during the development process is about student information systems (SIS) and their importance in education.

SIS is an essential tool for educators, as it enables them to manage student data efficiently, track academic progress, and communicate with parents and administrators. Through this project, I have gained a deeper understanding of SIS and the intricacies involved in creating a robust system that meets the needs of educational institutions.
