Inspiration
Many students are unaware of scholarships that they are eligible for. Finding the right scholarship can be difficult because students need to search through many websites and understand different eligibility requirements. Financial limitations can also prevent talented students from continuing their education. We were inspired to create EduRise to make scholarship discovery easier, faster, and more accessible for students.
What it does
EduRise is an intelligent scholarship matching platform that connects students with suitable scholarship opportunities. Students enter information such as their course, academic marks, family income, location, skills, and other eligibility details. EduRise analyzes this information and recommends scholarships that best match the student's profile. It can also display eligibility requirements, deadlines, required documents, and application information. This saves students time and helps them discover opportunities they might otherwise miss.
How we built it
We plan to build EduRise using Python for the backend and intelligent matching system. A structured scholarship database will store information such as eligibility criteria, income limits, courses, categories, deadlines, and application requirements. The system will compare student profiles with scholarship criteria and calculate a matching score. A simple and user-friendly interface will allow students to create profiles, view recommended scholarships, and check their eligibility. We can use HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL, and AI/ML techniques to develop the platform.
Challenges we ran into
One of our main challenges was converting different scholarship eligibility requirements into structured information that the system could understand. Another challenge was designing a matching system that provides relevant recommendations instead of showing students too many unrelated scholarships. We also needed to consider incomplete or incorrect student information and make the interface simple enough for students to use easily. Maintaining accurate scholarship information and deadlines is another important challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating an idea that addresses a real problem faced by students. EduRise provides a personalized approach to scholarship discovery instead of requiring students to search through numerous websites. We successfully designed a system concept that can analyze student information, compare eligibility criteria, and recommend suitable opportunities. We are also proud that the project has potential to help students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds access educational opportunities.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned how to convert a real-world problem into a technology-based solution. We learned about AI-based recommendation systems, database management, eligibility matching, user interface design, and software development. We also understood the importance of collecting reliable data and designing systems around the actual needs of users. Working on EduRise helped us improve our problem-solving, teamwork, research, and presentation skills.
What's next for EduRise
In the future, we plan to make EduRise more intelligent and useful by adding AI-powered recommendations, automatic scholarship updates, deadline reminders, document checklists, and personalized notifications. We also want to expand the scholarship database and support more courses, regions, and student categories. A mobile application could make the platform even more accessible. Our long-term goal is to make EduRise a trusted platform that helps every eligible student discover the right financial support for their education.
