EduReach: Teach. Reach. Empower.

🌟 Inspiration

Indonesia’s education system faces several challenges — under-resourced rural areas, limited internet connectivity, language barriers, and gaps in educational backgrounds. Inspired by these issues, we built EduReach to bring inclusive, AI-powered solutions that aim to make a meaningful impact on Indonesia’s educational landscape.

🚀 What It Does

EduReach summarizes PDF documents into various traditional Indonesian languages — including Batak, Javanese, and Sundanese. The app also helps bridge the knowledge gap by making niche expertise more accessible in underserved regions, empowering local communities through tailored educational content.

🛠️ How We Built It

We structured our development process into three dedicated teams: Frontend, Backend, and AI — allowing each member to focus deeply on their area of expertise. Collaboration was seamless; if a member completed their tasks early, they jumped in to support others. Once new features were added, everyone shifted back to maintain stability in their core area.

🔧 Technologies Used

Frontend

  • Built using React Router v7, shadcn/ui, Tailwind CSS, and Sonner for sleek UI, intuitive routing, and smooth notification handling.
  • Deployed seamlessly on Vercel for fast and global access.

Backend

  • Developed with .NET Core 9.0, containerized using Docker.
  • Powered by PostgreSQL and hosted on a secure Google Cloud VM instance, fully equipped with HTTPS support.

AI

  • Implemented using Python FastAPI, utilizing Gemini API, containerized with Docker for scalability and flexibility.
  • Deployed alongside the backend on the same Google Cloud VM, enabling secure and efficient AI inference.

This robust tech stack allowed us to create a modern, scalable, and responsive application that brings AI and accessibility to rural education in Indonesia.

⚠️ Challenges We Faced

  • Unstable internet connection
  • Extremely cold working environment
  • Limited food options at night due to distant restaurants

Despite these hurdles, our team's resilience and adaptability kept us moving forward.

🏆 Accomplishments We're Proud Of

We successfully developed a fully functional, AI-powered web application — all within just 30 hours of intense collaboration and coding!

📚 What We Learned

Strong communication and effective planning are the backbone of rapid and reliable development. We also discovered how powerful AI tools can significantly accelerate the creation process and elevate project outcomes.

Our next steps include:

  • Partnering with government based organizations which has great impact to education to scale and support EduReach's mission
  • Expanding features such as:
    • AI-powered volunteer and community matching
    • Personalized teacher recommendations
    • Volunteer feedback system to track performance and growth
