Edura - Gemini-Powered Study Companion

Inspiration

Modern students are not overwhelmed by learning content - they are overwhelmed by the systems surrounding learning.

Research highlights this fragmentation clearly:

  • McKinsey & Company reports that frequent context switching can reduce productivity by up to 40%.
  • UNESCO notes that many digital learning tools fail due to poor integration and accessibility, not lack of content.
  • Around 1 in 5 learners experience learning differences such as ADHD or dyslexia, yet most platforms are not designed for them.

As students, we feel this daily: notes scattered across devices, PDFs lost in downloads, AI chats in separate tabs, deadlines in different apps, and constant pressure to stay productive without a system that truly supports learning.

Edura was built to solve this - not as another tool, but as one coherent, Gemini-powered study system.

What It Does

Edura is an AI-powered, all-in-one learning companion where Google Gemini drives the core learning logic, not just responses.

Core Capabilities

  • Gemini AI Tutor (Text + Voice) Clear, step-by-step explanations in plain language, with a voice agent for hands-free and accessible learning.

  • Notes & PDFs → AI Revision Upload study material and Gemini generates summaries, MCQs, flashcards, and revision sets automatically.

  • Deadline-Aware AI Study Planner Gemini prioritizes tasks, distributes study hours across days, and generates realistic daily plans based on deadlines and available time.

  • Learning Roadmaps Gemini generates roadmap.sh-style learning paths with milestones, dependencies, resources, and project ideas. Roadmaps are generated once, cached, and reused.

  • Time-Aware Learning Tell Edura how much time you have (5 minutes to 8 hours), and Gemini recommends the best learning activity for that window.

  • Organized Knowledge Workspace All notes, PDFs, AI outputs, and multilingual content live in one searchable, structured space.

  • Focus & Consistency Tools Pomodoro-based focus rooms with ambient audio, visualizers, XP, and streak tracking.

  • Study VR Rooms FrameVR-powered collaborative study spaces with avatars and voice chat.

  • Progress Analytics & Gamification XP, streaks, study sessions, and mastery progress visualized in dashboards.

  • Accessibility & Inclusion Dyslexia-friendly fonts, colorblind themes, screen-reader support, clean layouts, and 30+ language translation.

How We Built It

  • Frontend: React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind, shadcn/ui, Zustand, TanStack Query
  • Backend: Supabase (Auth, PostgreSQL, Storage), Express.js
  • AI Core: Google Gemini (tutor, voice agent, revision, roadmaps, scheduling, time-aware learning)
  • Integrations: Google Classroom, Judge0, FrameVR

Gemini outputs are persisted and reused, making AI part of the system’s decision-making, not a cosmetic layer.

What We Learned

  • AI is most powerful when embedded into real workflows
  • Accessibility is not optional — it fundamentally improves learning
  • Students need fewer tools, not more
  • Good UX determines whether AI is usable or overwhelming

What’s Next

  • Mobile app (React Native)
  • Offline notes and flashcards
  • AI-generated mind maps
  • Advanced VR collaboration tools
  • Smart reminders and habit formation
  • Dashboards for teachers and study groups

Edura is not about adding more AI to studying. It’s about using Gemini to remove friction, restore clarity, and help students study with confidence and consistency.
