Inspiration

In today's fast-paced digital world, information overload is real. Students often struggle to keep up with what’s actually important and trending in the learning space. We wanted to create a platform that captures real-time learning trends from platforms like Reddit and Twitter, analyzes public sentiment, and recommends relevant learning resources — all in one dashboard. Thus, EduPulse was born — your real-time compass for discovering what's hot in education.

What it does

EduPulse is a real-time learning trend analyzer that helps learners, educators, and content creators stay ahead of the curve by identifying and visualizing what topics are currently trending in education-related discussions across platforms like Reddit, Twitter (optional), and online forums. It scrapes posts and discussions from select educational subreddits (like r/learnprogramming, r/AskAcademia, r/datascience, etc.) and performs NLP-based sentiment and trend analysis to: Identify trending learning topics and keywords (e.g., "Prompt Engineering", "AI in Healthcare", "Flutter vs React Native"). Display live dashboards with visual insights . Analyze sentiment around trending topics to differentiate between hype and genuine learner interest. Suggest relevant online courses from platforms like Coursera and Udemy based on trending topics.

How we built it

EduPulse is a real-time learning trend analyzer that: Scrapes and fetches trending discussions from Reddit around educational topics. Performs sentiment analysis on these discussions to understand public perception. Visualizes the data using interactive charts, word clouds, and trend lines. Recommends courses from Coursera, Udemy, and other platforms based on trends. Updates dynamically via the backend and provides an intuitive dashboard experience.

Challenges we ran into

Handling noisy or irrelevant data from discussion threads. Building a smooth UX that’s not overwhelming with visualizations. Ensuring sentiment analysis accuracy across different kinds of educational terms. Integrating everything smoothly within hackathon time constraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a full-stack, real-time platform from scratch during the hackathon. Built a dynamic sentiment analysis engine tied to actual discussions. Seamlessly integrated learning resource recommendations with trends. Designed an intuitive and beautiful dashboard experience.

What we learned

Gained deeper knowledge of working with live APIs and NLP tools. Learned how to clean and process real-world social data effectively. Improved our front-end skills with React-based visualizations. Understood the importance of meaningful UX in data-heavy applications.

What's next for EduPulse

Integrate voice-based input to ask “What should I learn today?” Add YouTube/TikTok scraping to expand sources of learning trends. Improve NLP with transformer-based models (like BERT or GPT). Enhance moderation and filtering for spam or irrelevant discussions. Launch as a browser extension for students and educators. Partner with ed-tech platforms for direct integration of course enrollment.
