EduPulse - Next-Gen EdTech Platform

🚀 About the Project

EduPulse is a modern EdTech platform designed to make online learning simple, engaging, and accessible. The platform allows learners to browse available courses, view detailed information, and enroll in free courses with limited seats. An intuitive admin dashboard enables administrators to create, update, and manage courses effortlessly, making course management seamless.

The idea behind EduPulse came from observing how many learning platforms become unnecessarily complex for users who simply want to discover and join quality courses. We wanted to build a lightweight yet visually appealing platform that focuses on usability, accessibility, and an enjoyable learning experience.

💡 Inspiration

Online education has transformed the way people learn, but many existing platforms prioritize features over user experience. We wanted to demonstrate that an educational platform can be both powerful and beautifully designed while remaining easy to navigate.

Our goal was to create a platform that could serve students, professionals, and lifelong learners with a clean interface and frictionless enrollment process.

🛠️ How We Built It

EduPulse was developed using a modern web development stack focused on performance, scalability, and developer productivity.

The frontend was built with Next.js and TypeScript, styled using Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui to create a responsive, modern interface. Framer Motion was used to add smooth animations and micro-interactions, while next-themes provides seamless light and dark mode support.

Authentication is powered by Firebase Authentication, supporting secure email/password and Google sign-in. Course data, enrollments, and user information are stored in Cloud Firestore, enabling real-time updates without the need for a traditional backend server.

The platform follows a role-based approach where an administrator can manage courses, define seat limits, and maintain course availability, while learners can browse and enroll with a single click.

🎯 Challenges We Faced

One of the biggest challenges was designing a system that remained simple while still delivering a polished user experience. We needed to balance functionality with the limited development time available during the hackathon.

Another challenge was maintaining data consistency during enrollment. We implemented logic to prevent duplicate enrollments and ensure that available seats decrease correctly whenever a learner joins a course.

Creating a cohesive UI that looked modern across both light and dark themes also required careful attention to spacing, typography, colors, and reusable component design.

📚 What We Learned

Throughout the project, we gained valuable experience integrating Firebase services into a modern Next.js application, designing reusable UI components, and building responsive interfaces that prioritize accessibility.

We also strengthened our understanding of application architecture, state management, authentication workflows, and database-driven user experiences while working under tight time constraints.
