Inspiration

As a student, I often saw friends (and myself) struggling with academic overload — missing deadlines, juggling assignments, and burning out under pressure. Important emails and exam dates got lost in the noise, leaving many of us anxious and unprepared. I realized this wasn’t just my story; countless students face the same challenge daily. That’s when I thought: what if we had an AI-powered companion that could take care of the organization, motivation, and reminders, so students could focus on actually learning?

What it does

EduNova – AI-Powered Smart Assistant helps students by:

  • Summarizing long documents into simple notes.
  • Tracking deadlines for assignments, projects, and exams.
  • Helping plan study schedules.
  • Sending reminders so nothing is missed.
  • Giving motivation and tips to stay focused.

In short, it makes learning less stressful and more productive.

How we built it

  • Backend: Node.js, Express.js
  • Frontend: React.js, Tailwind CSS
  • Database: MongoDB
  • AI & Automation: OpenAI API, LangChain, Vertex AI
  • Security: Descope Inbound Apps, Scoped Access Tokens

We used a multi-agent system where each agent has its own role:
Digest Agent, Enricher Agent, Deadline Agent, Planner Agent, Motivator Agent, and Notifier Agent.

Challenges we ran into

  • Keeping student data safe and private.
  • Making all AI agents work smoothly together.
  • Designing a simple UI that students actually want to use.
  • Managing time and features during hackathon development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Creating a working prototype of a multi-agent AI system.
  • Building a tool that can reduce student stress.
  • Adding strong security to protect user data.

What we learned

  • Students need not just tools, but companions that support them.
  • Multi-agent AI can be powerful for solving real problems.
  • Balancing new technology with simplicity is very important.

  • Add a Generative AI Tutor to explain tough topics.
