Inspiration
Let’s be honest: figuring out your career is overwhelming. Most advice is too generic, job descriptions feel confusing, and there’s constant pressure to “have it all figured out.”
We’ve seen friends and classmates freeze up when choosing a path, send out resumes that never get noticed, and spend a fortune on courses without knowing if they’re even useful.
We wanted to change that. Career guidance shouldn’t be a guessing game or something only a few can afford. It should be clear, personal, and accessible to everyone. That’s why we built EduNavigator — a simple but powerful AI co-pilot that helps you cut through the noise and focus on what really matters: building your future.
What it does
EduNavigator is designed to be your personal career guide, helping you go from “I don’t know where to start” to “I landed the job.”
AI Career GPS: Instead of boring quizzes, EduNavigator quickly maps out career paths tailored to you. With our interactive flowchart, you can see the bigger picture — the skills, courses, and companies that connect to your goals.
Smarter Resumes: Upload your resume, and EduNavigator highlights what works, what doesn’t, and how to beat ATS filters. You’ll get clear, targeted feedback so your resume stands out.
Learning Made Simple: Struggling with notes or heavy textbooks? The AI breaks them down into smart summaries, key terms, and even suggests learning paths based on your career goals.
Career as a Game: We’ve added XP, levels, and progress dashboards so prep feels motivating rather than stressful. Every milestone becomes a win.
How we built it
We focused on speed, accessibility, and a smooth experience:
- Frontend-first approach with React + TypeScript for stability and Tailwind for fast, modern design.
- Interactive flowcharts built using React Flow.
- Powered by Gemini AI, with careful prompt design so advice feels useful and personal.
- All in the browser — no heavy backend slowing things down. Everything runs instantly.
Challenges we ran into
- Running advanced AI in the browser meant juggling performance, security, and reliability all at once.
- Resumes come in every format imaginable — getting consistent parsing and analysis took a lot of trial and error.
- Making AI advice feel human (not robotic or generic) required a lot of prompt tweaking and user testing.
Accomplishments we’re proud of
- Built an all-in-one career platform that guides users from exploration to job readiness.
- Created a visual, interactive career map that makes planning clear and engaging.
- Proved that client-side AI can be fast, responsive, and practical for real use.
What we learned
- Good prompt engineering can make or break an AI-powered feature.
- User experience is everything — powerful tech only works if people actually enjoy using it.
- Taking risks (like going frontend-only) can pay off when it aligns with the end goal.
What’s next
We want EduNavigator to become the complete career companion:
- AI-powered mock interviews to help users practice confidently.
- Mentorship networks to connect learners with professionals.
- Smarter progress tracking that adapts to your career goals.
EduNavigator is just the beginning. We’re not building another app — we’re building a way for people to take control of their careers with clarity and confidence.
