Inspiration
Many students find it difficult to choose the right career path because of limited guidance and too many confusing options. I wanted to create something that could make this process simpler and more approachable. EduNavigator was born from the idea of giving students clear direction and confidence while making important decisions about their future.
What it does
EduNavigator is a web-based platform that guides students through their educational journey. It helps them explore potential career paths through an interactive quiz, discover colleges that match their interests, and access mentorship resources that support informed decision-making. The goal is to act as a single place where students can find clarity and direction.
How I built it
I built EduNavigator using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend to ensure a clean and responsive interface. For the backend, I used Python with Flask to manage routing and application logic. I focused on keeping the structure modular so that new features can be added easily in the future.
Challenges I ran into
One of the main challenges was designing a user experience that felt simple and intuitive for students with different needs. Creating meaningful logic for the career quiz also required careful thinking. Integrating the frontend with the backend smoothly and managing time while developing multiple features on my own were additional challenges I had to overcome.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I’m proud that I was able to build a fully functional educational guidance platform independently. Bringing together career exploration, college matching, and mentorship into a single application felt like a meaningful achievement. I’m especially happy with how user-friendly and clear the overall experience turned out to be.
What I learned
Through this project, I gained a deeper understanding of full-stack web development and Flask backend integration. I also learned how important user-centered design is when building educational tools. Working on EduNavigator helped me improve my problem-solving skills and confidence as an independent developer.
What's next for EduNavigator
In the future, I plan to enhance EduNavigator with AI-based career recommendations and personalized user profiles. I also want to add database support for tailored guidance, expand mentorship features, and eventually deploy the platform so it can be used by real students.
