Inspiration
We wanted to find a way to reintroduce productivity into our lives through a comprehensive, one-stop website. It would be a novel experience and hopefully, be a fun way to learn.
What it does
This website helps motivate students by having a blog replete with helpful information, live Reddit productivity posts, and a forum to discuss and share new ideas.
How we built it
The website was built with HTML and CSS, while the forum was built on Ruby-on-Rails with a small touch of HAML and SCSS.
Challenges we ran into
From the beginning, two members had no prior coding experience. Also, the chrome extension took much too much time, as it had a steep learning curve. That coupled with one member's two sleepless nights ended up scrapping the idea. We were also spread out across different time zones, so we had to do much independent work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Pretty much everything. Even the extension had a very nice design. It was also the first hackathon for a few of us, adding to a pleasant experience.
What we learned
We learned some preferences for languages, and teamwork is insanely crucial for the success of a team. We also practiced our presentation skills.
What's next for Eduhub
The project will be continued as a side project, while all of us can reflect on it as a learning experience.
