Inspiration

Millions of students suffer from teachers not attending schools due to no accountability towards their attendance, especially during COVID.

What it does

It ensures that students receive uninterrupted education by ensuring that they are attending the class, which also proves that the teacher is also present.

How we built it

We built it using Python as our programming language and we also used the modules Tkinter and pandas, alongside our Excel database.

Challenges we ran into

Originally, this was going to be a web app. However, we suffered many technical issues and were unable to create a web application, so we decided to use Python to create an application instead. Our team had both virtual and in-person hackers, so it was a challenge coordinating how we would work together.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create a working application with minimal experience and for two of us, it was our first hackathon! We also learnt to use Tkinter, which most of us have never used before :D

What we learned

We learned how to use pandas in conjuncture with Excel, along with using Tkinter to build a GUI app in python.

What's next for EduHelp

Our next step in EduHelp is to create a facial recognition software that is able to take attendance from a picture taken by the teacher in the classroom, along with a voice detection feature that transcribes whatever the teacher says for students to reference when studying.
