Inspiration
Climate change is an important issue for Nigeria and the world. We were driven by a desire to empower the next generation to face this challenge. Nigeria's youth population holds a lot of potential, and we believe they can be instrumental in creating a sustainable future.
What it does
We are in the early stages of developing EduGreen, but the core vision is clear. We are actively researching best practices in climate change education, focusing on encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and a solutions-oriented approach. We're also consulting with educators to ensure the curriculum aligns with their needs and resonates with students' learning styles.
How we built it
We are in the early stages of developing EduGreen, but the core vision is clear. We are actively researching best practices in climate change education, focusing on encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and a solutions-oriented approach. We're also consulting with educators to ensure the curriculum aligns with their needs and resonates with students' learning styles.
Challenges we ran into
The most notable challenge has been figuring out how to balance scientific accuracy with age-appropriate learning. Consulting professionals over the weekend was also a challenge, some of them were unresponsive. Another crucial consideration is ensuring the curriculum's adaptability to diverse regional contexts within Nigeria. These challenges, however, are opportunities for growth. Through collaboration and ongoing development, we are confident EduGreen will become a robust and adaptable resource.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
While EduGreen is still under development, we're proud of the significant groundwork we've accomplished. While our clearly defined vision is our biggest accomplishment, our foundation is impressive to us. We actively sought feedback from educators to ensure the curriculum resonated with students. We are confident that through continued development, collaboration, and feedback, we can transform EduGreen into a powerful tool for empowering Nigerian youth to become climate leaders.
What we learned
Developing EduGreen has been a valuable learning experience. We solidified our core purpose of empowering Nigerian youth as climate champions. Consulting educators was crucial, and challenges like balancing science with age-appropriateness became opportunities for learning. You can read so many books and watch videos about doing this kind of project but you learn so much more from doing the work.
The lessons learned will be instrumental as we continue developing EduGreen. They highlight the importance of a clear purpose, collaboration, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning – all of which are essential for creating a successful and impactful educational program.
What's next for EduGreen
- Complete our Curriculum down to the exact topics through help from Experts and Educators
- Visit schools in person to discuss our plans and pitch the long-term potential of EduGreen.
- Produce Educational materials to have successful open-day sessions
- Produce Incentives for students when we impact them i.e. Climate change stickers and souvenirs
This is just the beginning. We welcome your feedback and collaboration as we work to make EduGreen a reality.
