Inspiration## Inspiration

As students, we often find ourselves overwhelmed by massive lecture slides and lengthy PDFs right before exams. Traditional studying takes hours just to synthesize key concepts and write revision notes. We wanted to build a tool that drastically cuts down study time, helping students revise faster and retain more information effortlessly. That's how EduGenieAI was born.

What it does

EduGenieAI is an AI-powered EdTech study companion designed with a dark-mode interface for late-night revision sessions. Once a user inputs lecture notes or documents, the system processes the content and generates:

  • Executive Summaries: Highlights the most critical concepts instantly.
  • Interactive Flashcards: Enables active recall with Q&A-style learning.
  • Smart Quizzes: Auto-generated MCQs with detailed explanations for self-assessment.
  • Downloadable Revision PDF: Generates clean, concise short-notes formatted specifically for 1-click PDF download.

How we built it

  • AI Core: Integrated Google AI Studio using the Gemini API (gemini-1.5-flash) for fast and structured output generation.
  • Prompt Engineering: Designed strict JSON system instructions to ensure structured data responses for summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and downloadable notes.
  • Frontend: Built a responsive, dark-themed UI to reduce eye strain and provide an interactive study dashboard.

Challenges we faced

  • Ensuring the AI consistently returns valid structured JSON so the dashboard can render quizzes and flashcards without breaking.
  • Structuring the prompt to accurately separate summary notes into a clean format suitable for one-click PDF exporting.

What we learned

  • Effective prompt engineering using Google AI Studio.
  • Harnessing Gemini 1.5 Flash's speed and large context window for long-form educational document analysis.

What's next for EduGenieAI

  • Multilingual support for localized study materials.
  • Audio lecture integration (speech-to-text summarization).
