Inspiration

EduFund was inspired by the increasing number of students who face financial difficulties in continuing their education. The goal was to create a trustworthy and transparent platform that connects verified students with donors, ensuring that financial support directly reaches those who need it most.

How We Built It

EduFund was developed as a web-based platform emphasizing transparency, scalability, and secure data management through AWS integration.

Learning and Challenges

Throughout development, we learned how to integrate cloud-based services, manage secure authentication, and design an intuitive interface for both students and donors. The main challenges included implementing data verification, handling AWS configurations, and maintaining a balance between simplicity and transparency.

Overview

EduFund is a community-driven platform where students can request donations and donors can support multiple students. The project focuses on making education accessible, transparent, and manageable for both students and donors.

My Contributions

Backend Development

Designed and implemented Next.js 13 App Router API routes for login, signup, and donation management using NextResponse.json().

Integrated MongoDB Atlas as the production database, handling multiple donations per donor and ensuring data integrity.

Implemented secure user authentication and proper error handling for all API responses.

Frontend Development

Built dynamic React components for student profiles, donation forms, and donor dashboards.

Integrated real-time feedback and donation tracking.

Ensured responsive UI/UX for both desktop and mobile users using Tailwind CSS.

Database Design

Modeled collections for Students, Donors, and Donations to efficiently track multiple donations per student.

Implemented data validation and relations between students and donors for transparency.

Testing & Deployment

Tested all flows locally and resolved issues with JSON parsing errors after switching to MongoDB Atlas.

Deployed the project on Vercel, ensuring all backend APIs and database connections work in production.

Challenges Overcome

Handled empty response and JSON parsing errors caused by asynchronous DB connections in production.

Managed donor-to-multiple-students donation logic efficiently while keeping the API stable.

Ensured all API routes always return valid JSON, avoiding frontend errors.

Impact

Enabled students to request financial support easily.

Allowed donors to track multiple contributions transparently.

Created a scalable, production-ready platform for community-driven educational support.

I contributed to the project idea, frontend development, deployment, and presentation of EduFund. I helped conceptualize the core idea, focusing on building a transparent funding platform for students in need. My role involved designing and developing the frontend using modern UI libraries and ensuring a smooth user experience.
I also managed the deployment of the project on AWS, making sure the platform was stable, secure, and accessible. Additionally, I worked on presenting the idea by creating and delivering the voice-over explanation, highlighting the platform’s features, workflow, and social impact.
