How we built it

EduFlex was built by merging several cutting-edge technologies and an unwavering commitment to making education accessible and relevant. We started by developing an intuitive user interface designed for ease of navigation, especially for students in rural areas who might have limited exposure to digital tools. For our chatbot, we integrated AI-driven natural language processing, enabling it to understand a wide range of queries and provide responses that feel conversational and supportive.

To enable Visual Doubt Solving, we employed computer vision algorithms that can process images of textbook problems and provide step-by-step explanations. Leveraging APIs like Google’s Vertex AI and Gemini, we implemented a robust backend that allows for continuous learning and adapts the chatbot’s responses over time. The Dynamic Curriculum Updates feature taps into a database of current educational and industry trends, providing students with the latest advancements, while the Trending Topics section uses curated content to ensure students are aware of key concepts in emerging fields.

What we learned

Building EduFlex taught us a great deal about the unique challenges in providing educational technology solutions for rural communities. Through our research and testing, we realized the importance of simplicity and intuitiveness in design to minimize barriers to entry. The need for AI that’s not only accurate but also empathetic became apparent as we developed the chatbot. We also gained valuable experience working with advanced APIs like Vertex and Gemini, learning to balance the power of these technologies with the user’s experience.

Integrating features like image-based recognition for attendance and adapting our platform to support offline capabilities in low-internet regions taught us to anticipate practical constraints.
