EduContest
Inspiration
Teachers spend countless hours creating quizzes, exams, and assignments. Existing tools are often slow, repetitive, and lack intelligent assistance. We wanted to build an AI-powered platform that allows teachers to create high-quality assessments in seconds while keeping full control over the final result.
What it does
EduContest is an AI-powered assessment platform for educators.
With OpenAI, teachers can:
- Generate curriculum-aligned quiz and exam questions.
- Create multiple-choice, true/false, and open-ended questions.
- Produce explanations and answer keys automatically.
- Save and organize question banks.
- Review and edit AI-generated content before publishing.
The platform dramatically reduces preparation time while maintaining quality.
How we built it
- Frontend: Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS
- Backend: Supabase
- Authentication & Database: Supabase Auth + PostgreSQL
- AI: OpenAI API (GPT models)
- Deployment: Vercel
OpenAI is used to generate educational content, improve question quality, and assist teachers with creating personalized assessments.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenges were:
- Generating reliable educational content.
- Designing prompts that produce consistent question formats.
- Balancing AI creativity with curriculum accuracy.
- Building a fast and intuitive teacher experience.
We solved these by refining prompts, validating AI responses, and giving teachers complete editing control.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a working AI-powered education platform.
- Reduced assessment creation from hours to seconds.
- Integrated OpenAI into a real classroom workflow.
- Designed an interface focused on teacher productivity.
What we learned
This project showed us that AI works best as a collaborative assistant rather than a replacement. Prompt engineering, user feedback, and thoughtful UX are just as important as the underlying model.
What's next for EduContest
Our roadmap includes:
- AI-powered personalized learning recommendations.
- Automatic grading and detailed analytics.
- Support for additional languages.
- LMS integration.
- Collaborative teacher workspaces.
- Smarter question generation based on student performance.
Our goal is to make EduContest the AI assistant every teacher uses to create better assessments faster.
