Inspiration and What it does

Our inspiration was to improve the social life of students working and studying from home in the circumstances of the past year. We found that many students had their mental health affected heavily due to not being able to interact with classmates, whether it was in person or online. Our project aims to improve students' mental and social health by targeting online student interaction and online course management. We did this by creating a web-app where students can manage their courses and upcoming tasks, a Discord bot which reminds students of upcoming deadlines and also allows them to find other students taking the same courses and interact with them, and finally an AI chat bot that guides students in routing the webapp.

How we built it

We built these programs using javascript, mangoose, node.js, boostrap4, express.js. All three parts of the projects uses github for version control.

Challenges we ran into

A big challenge we faced was integrating our database with our multiple applications to provide a continues experience for the user. Although it was fairly time consuming, be believe it enhances the overall experience for the end user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we learned

We learned to brainstorm as a team, develop as a team, and furthermore work and overcome challenges as a team. We learned how to use new technologies and integrate them all together such as using cloud computing service on GCP which is using DialogFlow API.

What's next for EduConnect

We will add more features to the website such as adding courses, events, integrating the calendar and making it more mobile friendly.
