Inspiration

Our inspiration was seeing how well-designed websites could keep users coming back by making simple tasks more user-friendly.

What it does

EduCloud currently tracks the amount of time you study every day. The user may start a study session by starting the timer for a set amount of time. When the timer ends, the length of the study session is recorded and added to browser cookies, and the user is given credits for studying. The website uses the cookies to display a bar chart of time studied in the past seven days.

How we built it

  • Scratch and Google Drawings: art
  • HTML: website-building
  • JavaScript: graph, cookies, timer, website-building
  • Azure: website-hosting

Challenges we ran into

On the first day, we didn't communicate effectively and spent it deciding on an idea. Once we split up the work and got started, we struggled with the technical aspects of our project, as we had no experience making a website. However, we got it done with Google and a lot of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very thrilled to have finished our first website from scratch! We are also proud of the amount of time and work every team member has put into this project.

What we learned

Our team learned the basics of HTML and JavaScript. We also learned the importance of user comfort and catering to the user.

What's next for EduCloud

There’s a lot of potential for us! In the future, we plan to make our website more user-friendly and self-motivating. Here are some things we have planned:

  • Screen time tracking
  • Alarm sounds to alert you when your study session is over
  • A shop with many cosmetics you can buy with your credits, including custom alarm sounds and backgrounds
  • A login system
  • Support for teachers, including a student messaging system, an assignment system, and a student tracking system
