Inspiration

Kids are consuming short-form content and brain rot more than ever, but parents are unable to fully restrict this consumption without facing resistance or ostracizing their child from their peers. Currently, it is impossible to supplement entertainment (shows and videos) with their education (curriculum).

What it does

EAV allows parents/guardians to upload an mp4 (episode)/paste a link into our bot & type a prompt to insert AI-generated video that explains an educational concept, in a way that matches the content's voices and visuals seamlessly. Kids can also interactively listen to questions asked using Amazon Echo's voice feature. EAV turns familiar content into new knowledge.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

It was difficult to refine the Gemini VEO-generated content to create the correct numbers and letters, especially for math equations. The voices and audio were sometimes mismatched and did not accurately represent the character in the film.

Additionally, we struggled with syncing the app with Amazon Echo in order to receive answers from the viewer.

What's next for Educationally Augmented Videos (EAV)

In the future, we will implement a strictly-moderated community feature where EAVs can be shared to anyone - allowing any parent to find any show with any educational concept.

We will also have a section with provided clips and existing prompts (i.e. "simple division", for anyone who wants to create a video on-the-spot without uploading a show.
