Inspiration

The inspiration for this project came from one of our team members, whose father is an elementary school teacher. He expressed his frustration with the limitations of traditional teaching methods, particularly in tracking individual student progress and providing personalized learning.

What it does

EducationAI is a web-based application that utilizes AI technology to generate adaptive questions for students. It tracks their progress and provides personalized feedback based on their performance. The platform is designed to help both teachers and students optimize the learning experience.

How we built it

The platform was built using several programming languages and tools, including Python, OpenAI, HTML/CSS, and React. We used natural language processing (NLP) techniques to analyze student responses and provide relevant feedback. We leveraged the OpenAI capabilities to adapt to individual student learning styles and provide more effective question generation.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was fine-tuning the AI algorithm to provide accurate and relevant feedback to students. We also had to ensure the user interface was user-friendly and easy to navigate. Lastly, integrating the different programming languages and tools into a cohesive platform presented some technical challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to have a working application and we accomplished most of our goals throughout this entire project, despite only have 2 group members. Incorporating AI was one of the things that we really wanted to do and we were able to successfully incorporate OpenAI.

What we learned

We learned React.js, Node.js, and padding boxes in CSS. We also learned that having a clear outline of what we wanted to do is key to having a successful project.

What's next for EducationAI

Refactoring the entire project to make it more accessible and friendly to other coders who may be viewing our code as it is a little messy. We also want to incorporate Twillio features for teacher email notifications on students' projects. We could also expand to other school subjects.
