Inspiration

How important are education investments for economic parameters?

What it does

Visualize two different datasets, runs regression, and makes GDP predictions based on education spending thanks to Machine Learning.

How we built it

I used geospatial data and matplotlib for visualization. DecisionTreeRegressor for Machine Learning part and seaborn for regression analysis.

Challenges we ran into

I spent more time than I anticipated for visualization and Machine Learning was challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am really proud of world map figure and Machine Learning pipeline without overfitting.

What we learned

Education spending and GDP are highly correlated. Government officials might want to consider this fact before deciding on education budgets.

What's next for Education Spending of OECD Countries and Their GDP

Education investments start to show their effects in the future. For example, investments made in 2000 in a specific country may have effects in 2005 or 2006. So, time series analysis can be done in the future.
