Inspiration

My parents always told my sister and I that going to community college for two years first before entering a state school is a must; it was non-negotiable. I have no problem with going to a community college first, but the problem is that it is my only option. I created this website so that students like me can one day be able to apply and attend college without the financial burden of paying high college tuition.

What it does

This webpage advocates for free college education for all. A fact generator is embedded in the home page, so that users can gain an understanding of how people of different wealth and racial backgrounds are affected by college tuition. In the take action page, a link to start a promise program is embedded, which is a campaign to advocate for free college education in your local community. There are more links embedded that sends the user to websites and articles that talk about this topic.

How we built it

This website was built with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Javascript was used to code for the fact generator.

Challenges we ran into

I ran into a challenge when I was using javascript to code for the fact generator, because the facts would not pop up when the button was clicked. After a few hours and tons of google searches, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of putting in a fact generator in my website, because I am new to javascript, so I am happy that I was able to use it successfully in my website. I am also proud of attaching a background image so that when the user scrolls, the background image does not move.

What we learned

I learned that it is okay to struggle and not get everything right on my first try. I also learned that it is important to keep trying until I get it right.

What's next for Education For ALL

For the take action page, I want to embed a pledge using javascript so when a user enters their name, a script with their name pops up saying that they pledge to start a promise program in their community.
